Modular Aquaponics Response Kit

ECOLIFE has designed the Modular Aquaponics Response Kit (M.A.R.K.) in order to establish localized sustainable food systems and provide economic opportunities to underserved communities across the world.

In the time since ECOLIFE was founded in 2003, we have worked with a variety of communities and individuals to implement local, sustainable food systems utilizing aquaponics. The success of ECOLIFE’s Sustainable Agriculture Program has allowed us to fine-tune our methods of communicating aquaponics to a wide audience. Our technical expertise has now allowed for the development of energy-efficient aquaponic systems that will not depend on conventional sources of electricity. The introduction of the M.A.R.K. will enable anyone, anywhere to grow nutrient-dense produce and protein-rich fish in a wide variety of environments.

Potential Applications Include:

  • Establishing/Strengthening Local Food Systems
  • Emergency Response Food Production
  • Community Development
  • Workforce Training
  • Education, and more!

Construction of the M.A.R.K. prototype is speeding along!

This week we built modular stands upon which the NFT grow channels will rest. Upon completion, each of the 74 channels will house 17 plants. That’s a total of 1,258 heads of lettuce!

Next, we will begin plumbing the system in order to provide all of those hungry plants with the water and nutrients they need! Stay tuned for future time lapse videos of the project.

Recommend a M.A.R.K. Recipient

While we will ultimately be looking to support the needs of international communities, it is important we work with local communities to fine-tune this program before replicating its success across the globe. Do you know any communities that would benefit from a Modular Aquaponics Response Kit?

Help Fund Future M.A.R.K. Systems

ECOLIFE’s programs would not be possible without the generous support and dedication from people like you! Please support the replication of the M.A.R.K. by donating, so we can build additional systems for communities in need.
