What size tank do you recommend?

Any aquarium with a 12 in by 24 in footprint. The standard 20-gallon or 20H is a widely available model with these dimensions.  Other standard tank options include 15-gallon and 25-gallon models, just make sure you get an aquarium that is approximately 24 by 12 inches at the rim (the tray will accommodate aquariums with top dimensions of 23.75” – 24.25” x 11.8” – 12.5”  / 60.3 – 61.6 cm x 30 – 31.8 cm). The tank size is also be determined by the type of fish you want to keep in you tank. The general rule of thumb is 1 inch of fish per gallon; a little less if you are keeping goldfish.
